Application Process
The British Shuai Jiao Union (BSJU) is a selecting not a recruiting organisation.
You may only apply for membership as either an Athete (Student) or a Coach (Instructor), if you are participating in Shuai Jiao (Chinese Wrestling) at a BSJU accredited school.
If your application is successful then you will be licenced and insured to participate in Shuai Jiao in the United Kingdom.
You are required to comply with the terms and conditions of membership for your membership to remain valid.
School Selection
Selecting the right school for you is very important, so consider your choice carefully. Your school will both form the foundation for your competence and represent a major investment in yourself.
The BSJU only assess and manage the schools’ proficiency in enabling students to gain the BSJU membership. It is important that when you consider your prospective school, that you ask questions to ascertain whether its approach to Shuai Jiao and training suits your requirements; and if the school is accredited by the BSJU.
BSJU Accredited Schools
BSJU accredited school status is only issued to schools that have achieved the required high standards to teach Shuai Jiao in the United Kingdom. BSJU accredited schools demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement, development and promotion of Shuai Jiao in the United Kingdom.
To be accredited by the BSJU, Shuai Jiao schools must fulfil the following criteria:
- Coaching competence as trainers and experienced practitioners of Shuai Jiao - certified by the BSJU
- Coaching, Safeguarding and First Aid competence as part of the minimum operating standards
- Shuai Jiao learning programmes cover the standardised curriculum and learning outcomes
- Schools provide the appropriate level of teaching, support, tutoring and assessment to enable all students to gain BSJU certification
- Schools must ensure that all paricipant are adequately insured for participation in Shuai Jiao.
The award of accreditation is made to the school and held by the Head Coach (Chief Instructor).
All BSJU Coaches must hold a current DBS Enhanced Check and have undertaken approved Safeguarding training, approved First Aid training, and BSJU Coaching training,
to validate their coaching credentials, and to be authorised and licenced to teach Shuai Jiao in the United Kingdom.
