Membership Context
The British Shuai Jiao Union (BSJU) is the official governing body for Shuai Jiao (Chinese Wrestling) in the United Kingdom.
The BSJU is a membership organisation and intends to expanded its network of qualified coaches, judges, referees and individual members, throughout the United Kingdom, providing access to the sport in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The principal activity of the BSJU is the regulation, promotion, development, and supervision of Shuai Jiao activities and events.
Membership Prerequisites
Coach (Instructor)
To qualify for Coach (Instructor) membership of the BSJU you must meet the following requirements:
- Your school/club/association must be situated within the United Kingdom, or have schools that are; and be registered with the British Shuai Jiao Union (BSJU).
- You must be practising a recognised system of martial arts with a Shuai Jiao (wrestling/throwing) component; and be technically competent.
- You should have a minimum of five (5) students.
- You should arrange for your students to register with the BSJU with your School Authentication Code.
- You should know and understand the BSJU Coaching, Equality, and Safeguarding standards.
- You must be familiar and comply with the BSJU Coaching, Equality, and Safeguarding standards, and be working towards certification.
NB: BSJU Coach (Instructor) education programmes are available for all Coaches, and are aimed at meeting professional standards.
- You must be committed to continuous improvement for the development of Shuai Jiao.
- You must be 18 years of age or older on the date of application.
- You should attend the BSJU Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Athletes (Students)
To qualify for Athlete (Student) membership of the BSJU you must meet the following requirements:
- Your school/club/association must be situated within the United Kingdom; and be registered with the British Shuai Jiao Union (BSJU).
- You must be practising a recognised system of martial arts with a Shuai Jiao (wrestling/throwing) component.
- You must be familiar and comply with the BSJU Coaching, Equality, and Safeguarding standards.
- You must be committed to continuous improvement for the development of Shuai Jiao.
- If under the age of 18 years old on the date of application then you must obtain the permission of your parent/carer to apply.
